Spencer Peterman has a keen eye for fallen trees decaying in the woods — the more weathered and moss-covered, the better. What might look like rot to most is a hidden treasure to him, and to his customers. Beneath the surface lies wood transformed by early decomposition, revealing dramatic patterns and textures. When turned on a lathe, it becomes a one-of-a-kind bowl — a natural work of art, perfect for your home.
The maple tree is cherished across New England for its wood, syrup, and brilliant autumn foliage. Known for its smooth grain and distinctive light color, maple wood offers both beauty and strength. We upcycle fallen maple trees in the early stages of decomposition, often marked by the work of the Ambrosia beetle. This tiny insect leaves behind striking brown and gray patterns, giving each piece of wood its own unique character.
Each bowl is sustainably sourced, upcycled, and handcrafted in New England. They are 100% food safe.
