So...what is a Bowerbird?

From Webster:

noun bow-er-bird \ ˈbau̇(-ə)r-ˌbərd 

any of a family (Ptilonorhychidae) of passerine birds of Australia and New Guinea in which the male builds a chamber or passage arched over with twigs and grasses, often adorned with bright-colored objects, and used especially to attract the female.

 

 

 

 

The Bowerbird Gift Wrap Donation Program

The Bowerbird has selected A Place Called Hope based in Killingworth, CT (https://www.aplacecalledhoperaptors.com/) as the recipient of the proceeds from their 2023-2024 gift-wrap program. A Place Called Hope is a rehabilitation and education center for birds of prey. Their goal is to heal injured, orphaned, or ill birds and return them to the wild where they belong. The Bowerbird donation program runs from November 1, 2023 through October 31, 2024.
The Bowerbird in Old Lyme recently wrapped up their 2022-2023 gift-wrapping campaign to raise funds for A Place Called Hope based in Killingworth, CT (https://www.aplacecalledhoperaptors.com/). A check in the amount of $3,737 representing 1608 packages wrapped. The Bowerbird charges a nominal fee for gift-wrapping purchases and donates 50% to local non-profit organizations.
The Bowerbird pioneered ‘cause’ marketing when they created their gift wrap donation program in 1992. In the past twenty-eight years, The Bowerbird has donated over $107,000 to 33 statewide and local non- profits proving that small businesses can make a difference.
